2007 Silverado / Sierra 1500: 2007 was sold in two body styles. The carry-over "Classic" trucks used the LM7, L59 or L33 (this listing). The new-body 2007 trucks use the AFM engines (VIN J, 0, M or 3): see our GM 5.3L AFM, non-VVT (2007-2009: LY5 / LMG / LH6 / LC9) listing.

Cadillac Escalade: only the 2003-2005 rear-wheel-drive, standard-length Escalade used the 5.3L (LM7, VIN T); during 2005 GM switched every Escalade to the 6.0L, so confirm VIN T. AWD Escalades, Escalade EXT and Escalade ESV use the 6.0L and are not covered.

Confirm by VIN: 2007 Chevrolet Express / GMC Savana with the L59 (VIN Z), and 2004 GMC Envoy XUV with the LM4 (VIN P), are listed by only one of our sources. Send us your VIN.

VIN P: on 2003-2005 mid-size SUVs and the SSR, VIN P means LM4 (this listing). On 2010-2012 Colorado / Canyon, VIN P means LH9: see our GM 5.3L VVT, non-AFM (2010-2014: LMF / LH9) listing.

Confirm your engine

  • VIN: the 8th digit of your VIN is the engine code (T = LM7, Z = L59, B = L33, P = LM4, 4 = LMF, L = LH8).
  • RPO code: look for the engine RPO code on the Service Parts Identification (SPID) label, usually in the glove box.
  • Gen III vs Gen IV: 1999-2007 Gen III 5.3L engines use a 24x crank reluctor with the cam sensor at the rear of the block; 2007-2014 Gen IV truck engines use a 58x crank reluctor with the cam sensor in the front cover.
  • VVT: 2010-2014 VVT engines have a cam phaser on the front of the camshaft (behind the timing cover) and a phaser control solenoid on the front cover.
  • AFM: AFM engines have the lifter oil manifold (solenoid assembly) under the intake manifold in place of a plain valley cover.

Casting numbers

  • Block (LM7 and L59, cast iron): 12551358, 12567392 or 12567393
  • Block (LM4, aluminum): 12566910
  • Block (L33, aluminum): confirm by VIN (B)
  • Block (LMF, cast iron, Gen IV): 12576177, 12576178 or 12589779
  • Block (LH8, aluminum, Gen IV): 12571048, 12601900, 12569513 or 12568573
  • Cylinder heads (LM7, L59, LM4): 862 or 706 (cathedral port; last three digits of the casting number)
  • Cylinder heads (L33): 799 or 243 (cathedral port; last three digits of the casting number)
  • Cylinder heads (LMF, LH8): 799 or 243 (cathedral port; last three digits of the casting number)

Where to find casting numbers: the block casting number is on the driver side rear of the block, just above the bellhousing flange and below the driver-side cylinder head (hard to read in the vehicle; a mirror and flashlight help). On the cylinder heads, the last three digits of the casting number are cast into the head near the corner/end, just below the valve cover.

Check the 8th digit of your VIN (T = LM7, Z = L59, B = L33, P = LM4, 4 = LMF, L = LH8) or the RPO code on the SPID label, and choose your engine code from the dropdown. Send us your VIN to confirm fitment.

Notes

  • The valley plate (lifter valley cover) is not included; reuse yours from your current engine. On the Gen III engines (LM7, L59, L33, LM4) it is a plain cover over the two knock sensors, which sit in the lifter valley. On the Gen IV LMF and LH8 (no AFM) it is a plain cover; the knock sensors are on the sides of the block.

  • Business without dock (lift gate): +$100

Shipping is free within the Continental United States to commercial addresses with a forklift/dock or terminal pickup. If the delivery address doesn't match the delivery type selected, the difference will be charged before shipping. Alaska & Hawaii: online checkout isn't available for engines shipping to AK or HI. Call 623-204-6365 for a freight quote before ordering. Approx. weight 400 lbs (aluminum block) / 550 lbs (cast iron block).

Break-in

The first 1,000 miles are the break-in period. Use conventional oil only, change the oil and filter at 500 miles, vary your RPM, and avoid towing, heavy loads and long idling. Check your oil level regularly, since some oil burn-off is normal until the rings seat. Following the break-in procedure is required to keep your warranty.

Warranty, core and performance parts

Warranty: 1-year unlimited-mile warranty on the engine only; labor is not covered. Optional 3-year extended warranty available for $1,500 (includes labor coverage at $50/hr). See our Warranty & Refund Policy. Add the 3-year extended warranty to your order.

Core charge: none. All engines are built to order.

Performance parts: we do not blueprint engines. We can install custom or performance parts you supply (you pay for the parts and shipping them to us; no extra installation charge), but this waives the 1-year warranty.
