Our engines come with a 1-year, unlimited-mile warranty at no extra cost (high-performance engines excepted, see below). You can upgrade to the 3-Year Extended Warranty, which adds labor coverage, for $1,500. The terms below apply to both plans unless noted.

High-performance engines: because of what these engines are built to do, high-performance engines (for example, our HEMI Strokers) come with no warranty. That said, we work with customers case by case, and if something is wrong we will generally try to make it right.

What's covered

Phoenix Engine Specialists warrants the engine and all internal engine components, including parts and machining workmanship, against defects in materials and workmanship.

Both plans:

Engine block, cylinder heads, crankshaft, camshaft(s), connecting rods, pistons, valves, valve springs, timing components, oil pump, and all internally lubricated parts.
Machining and assembly performed by Phoenix Engine Specialists.

3-Year Extended Warranty only:

Labor to remove and reinstall the covered engine at a flat rate of $50/hour, when the repair is performed at Phoenix Engine Specialists or an approved facility.
Commercial fleet use: parts and labor for 3 years. Labor is paid at a flat $50/hour for labor-guide time, up to 15 hours per claim. Call us for a claim number before the engine is removed.

On the standard 1-year warranty, labor to remove and reinstall the engine is not covered.

What's not covered (both plans)

Damage caused by overheating, detonation, pre-ignition, or lack of lubrication.
Damage from improper installation, unqualified mechanic work, or not following the break-in procedure.
External components, including but not limited to electrical, cooling, fuel and exhaust systems, transmission, clutch, or drivetrain.
Engines used for racing, heavy towing (exceeding the manufacturer's GVWR), or off-road competition. Commercial fleet use is covered only under the 3-Year Extended Warranty.
Consequential or incidental costs, including but not limited to towing, rental vehicles, lodging, lost wages, or downtime.
Normal wear items such as gaskets, seals, filters, spark plugs, belts, hoses, or fluids, unless the failure was directly caused by a covered component.

How to make a warranty claim

Diagnosis: claims require a written diagnosis from a licensed/certified mechanic, submitted to Phoenix Engine Specialists. Verbal opinions are not accepted.
Notify us right away: contact us as soon as you notice a possible problem. Continuing to drive after a failure may void the warranty.
Documentation:
- Original sales receipt/invoice from Phoenix Engine Specialists.
- All maintenance records, including oil changes, filters, and coolant flushes.
- Receipts for any repairs performed during the warranty period.
- Proof of proper installation (if we did not install the engine).
Inspection: the engine must be returned to Phoenix Engine Specialists for inspection. The customer pays shipping unless the claim is approved.
Approval: warranty repairs only go ahead after inspection and approval. Unauthorized repairs void the warranty.

Warranty labor rate: notice to repair shops (3-Year Extended Warranty only)

Phoenix Engine Specialists pays a flat labor rate of $50/hour for approved warranty repairs under the 3-Year Extended Warranty. This rate is fixed and not negotiable.

If a shop will not accept $50/hour, the claim will be denied.
In that case, the customer is responsible for 100% of the repair bill.
We only authorize repairs at facilities that accept our rate.

Break-in procedure (required to keep your warranty)

Proper break-in is critical to engine life.

First 1,000 miles (break-in period):

Use conventional oil only. Don't use synthetic oil until break-in is complete.
Change the oil and filter at 500 miles.
Check the oil level regularly and top off as needed. Some oil burn-off is normal until the rings seat.
Vary engine speed often between 2,000 and 4,000 RPM. Avoid long idling or constant RPM, such as highway cruising.
No towing, heavy loads, or high-RPM driving.
Metal particles in the oil at the first change are normal, from the piston rings and bearings seating. This is not a defect.

After 1,000 miles: drive normally, but avoid sustained high RPM or heavy loads until 3,000 miles when possible.

Required maintenance

To keep your warranty, the following must be performed and documented:

Oil and filter change every 3,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first, using API-rated oil of the correct viscosity.
Coolant flush and replacement every 2 years or 30,000 miles.
Regular inspection of belts, hoses, and cooling system components.
High-quality fuel. Avoid contaminated or low-octane gasoline.

Keep all receipts. They must show the date, mileage, and services performed.

General terms

The warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.
Phoenix Engine Specialists may repair, replace, or refund any covered component, at our discretion.
If repair or replacement is not feasible, any refund is prorated by time: the purchase price of the engine multiplied by the months remaining in the warranty period divided by the total months (12 for the standard warranty, 36 for the 3-year warranty).
This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights, which vary by state.

Returns & refunds

Return window

Regular engines can be returned within 30 days. The 30 days start on your delivery date, or the date your job is completed.
To be returned, the engine must be unused and in its original packaging. A 20% restocking fee applies to cancellations and returns within the 30 days.
After 30 days, engines can't be returned or refunded.

Installed engines

We don't accept returns or give refunds on engines that have been installed. After that point, the warranty is your only option.

Custom and high-performance engines (including our HEMI Strokers)

Custom and high-performance engines, and deposits on custom orders, are fully refundable if cancelled within 24 hours of ordering.
After 24 hours, they are non-refundable.

Deposits

Custom orders: fully refundable if cancelled within 24 hours of ordering, and non-refundable after that.
Regular orders: refundable within 24 hours.

Performance add-ons (cams, lifters, studs, etc.)

Refundable if cancelled before your build starts. Once the build has started, add-ons are non-refundable.

Extended warranty

The $1,500 3-Year Extended Warranty is non-refundable once the engine has shipped.

Return shipping

The buyer pays return shipping and is responsible for securing the engine for transit.
If the engine was damaged in shipping, the carrier or Phoenix Engine Specialists covers it. Inspect your delivery before signing, and tell us right away about any damage.

Processing

Allow 3-5 business days for processing after a returned engine arrives.

Shipping & delivery

Shipping is free within the continental USA to commercial addresses with a loading dock or forklift, or for pickup at a freight terminal.

Lift gate delivery: +$100
Residential delivery (includes lift gate): +$300

Alaska and Hawaii: shipping is not available online. Please call (623) 204-6365 for a freight quote.

If the delivery address doesn't match the delivery type selected at checkout, the difference will be charged before shipping. Unpaid balances will be charged to the card on file or sent to collections.
