The 2.7L was never offered with all-wheel drive. AWD 300, Charger and Magnum models use a different engine.
The 2.7L comes in two versions. The main difference is the timing system, and the change follows the engine build date: engines built on or after November 3, 2008 have the late timing system.

The 2.7L's water pump sits inside the engine, driven by the timing chain. If its seal fails, coolant can leak into the oil, and the 2.7L also has a well-documented history of oil sludge, particularly on earlier engines with the smaller oil capacity. Either can lead to bearing and timing-chain damage. Every engine we build gets a new water pump, oil pump, timing set and guides, so those wear parts start fresh. Change the oil on schedule and fix any coolant loss right away.
Shipping is free within the Continental United States to commercial addresses with a forklift/dock or terminal pickup. If the delivery address doesn't match the delivery type selected, the difference will be charged before shipping. Alaska & Hawaii: online checkout isn't available for engines shipping to AK or HI. Call 623-204-6365 for a freight quote before ordering. Ships in a fully enclosed wooden crate (roughly 30 inches cubed); approx. weight 325 lbs.
The first 1,000 miles are the break-in period. Use conventional oil only, change the oil and filter at 500 miles, vary your RPM, and avoid towing, heavy loads and long idling. Check your oil level regularly, since some oil burn-off is normal until the rings seat. Following the break-in procedure is required to keep your warranty.
Warranty: 1-year unlimited-mile warranty on the engine only; labor is not covered. Optional 3-year extended warranty available for $1,500 (includes labor coverage at $50/hr). See our Warranty & Refund Policy. Add the 3-year extended warranty to your order.
Core charge: none. All engines are built to order.
Performance parts: we do not blueprint engines. We can install custom or performance parts you supply (you pay for the parts and shipping them to us; no extra installation charge), but this waives the 1-year warranty.
