Power expectations

For reference, the factory 6.1L SRT8 is rated 425 hp and 420 lb-ft (crank). Stroker results depend on the full combination, so these are typical estimates, not guarantees.

What affects your numbers

• Camshaft choice, cylinder heads (stock with valve job vs. ported), intake and throttle body, and exhaust/headers
• Compression ratio and fuel octane
• Tune quality. A custom tune is required on every stroker build. We do not tune.
• Crank hp vs. rear-wheel hp: chassis dyno (rear-wheel) numbers read lower than engine dyno numbers because of drivetrain loss

Build notes

• The 6.1 is a non-VVT engine, so it needs a non-VVT camshaft.
• Valve springs must be matched to the cam, and pushrod length is measured during mock-up. Per Texas Speed, their non-VVT HEMI cam kits include upgraded valve springs and pushrods.
• Automatic cars: a higher-stall torque converter matched to the cam is recommended. We'll help you choose.

• This is a high-performance engine. Please do your own research before purchase.
• Break-in: every new engine needs a 1,000-mile break-in period (conventional oil, first oil change at 500 miles).
• Larger bore options may require cylinder sonic testing before we build.

Break-in

The first 1,000 miles are the break-in period. Use conventional oil only, change the oil and filter at 500 miles, vary your RPM, and avoid towing, heavy loads and long idling. Check your oil level regularly, since some oil burn-off is normal until the rings seat. Following the break-in procedure is required.
