Fitment

2019 Silverado / Sierra 1500: 2019 was sold in two body styles. The Silverado LD / Sierra 1500 Limited (previous body) uses the L83; new-body trucks use the L84. Confirm by VIN.

L82 (VIN F): call 623-204-6365 to confirm before ordering.

Casting numbers

L83 cylinder head casting: 12620214. Casting numbers help identify the engine family but can't pick out one RPO by themselves. Always confirm with your VIN 8th digit or the RPO code on your SPID label.

• Engine: choose L83 or L84 above. The L83 and L84 are not interchangeable.
• VIN 8th digit and RPO code: C = L83, D = L84. The RPO code is on the Service Parts Identification (SPID) label, usually in the glove box.

Cam stages

Same price for every stage. All three are Brian Tooley Racing (BTR) Gen V truck cams. The same cam fits the L83 and L84; only the VVT limiter changes.

• Stage 1: stock idle and stock feel, with more power everywhere. Works with the factory converter. About +35 hp.
• Stage 2: mild gallop at idle, extra midrange above 2,500 rpm, towing friendly. Works with the factory converter. About +44 hp.
• Stage 3: noticeable lope and a cammed sound, about stock torque below 2,500 rpm, then strong midrange. Upgraded converter recommended. About +51 hp.
• Gain figures are approximate: BTR's claimed figures with a proper tune. Results vary by vehicle, tune, and supporting mods.

Custom / other brand cam (+$300): we can use any make of camshaft you request (Brian Tooley, Texas Speed, Comp, Cam Motion and more). Custom grinds are non-refundable.

Required / recommended

• Tune required. A tune is required to run the cam, and the ECM must be tuned to turn off AFM/DFM and set VVT. We do not tune.
• Global B ECM unlock required (2021+ Tahoe / Suburban / Yukon / Yukon XL and 2022.5+ Silverado / Sierra 1500): the ECM must be unlocked before it can be tuned. A TCM unlock may also be needed. Not included.
• Stage 3: upgraded torque converter recommended (not included).
