Confirm your engine

• Model year: 1999-2007 only. Every 2008 and newer 4.7L is the dual-spark-plug engine.
• Spark plugs: 8 spark plugs (one per cylinder, each with its own coil) = covered. 16 spark plugs (two rows per bank) = not covered.
• VIN 8th digit: N (standard) or P (flex fuel) on a 1999-2007 vehicle. J = 4.7L High Output, not covered.
• Block casting: 53020661 (ABK, AE or AF suffix), a raised number on the driver side of the block, above the starter.
• Head castings: 53020801 (left/driver side) and 53020802 (right/passenger side), cast on the front of each cylinder head. Later heads read 0801AC / 0802AC.

Shipping is free within the Continental United States to commercial addresses with a forklift/dock or terminal pickup. Call 623-204-6365 for a freight quote before ordering. Ships in a fully enclosed wooden crate (roughly 30 inches cubed); approx. weight 450 lbs.

Break-in

The first 1,000 miles are the break-in period. Use conventional oil only, change the oil and filter at 500 miles, vary your RPM, and avoid towing, heavy loads and long idling. Check your oil level regularly, since some oil burn-off is normal until the rings seat. Following the break-in procedure is required to keep your warranty.

Warranty, core and performance parts

Warranty: 1-year unlimited-mile warranty on the engine only; labor is not covered. Optional 3-year extended warranty available for $1,500 (includes labor coverage at $50/hr). See our Warranty & Refund Policy. Add the 3-year extended warranty to your order.

Core charge: none. All engines are built to order.

Performance parts: we do not blueprint engines. We can install custom or performance parts you supply (you pay for the parts and shipping them to us; no extra installation charge), but this waives the 1-year warranty.
