Confirm your engine

• VIN 8th digit: the 8th character of your 17-digit VIN is the engine code. A = 2.5L LCV (covered). L = 2.5L LKW (not covered). If your 8th digit is anything other than A, this is not your engine.
• RPO code LCV: look for the code LCV on the Service Parts Identification (SPID) label, inside the glove box or on the door jamb.
• Casting numbers: see the table below. Casting numbers can be hard to see with the engine in the vehicle. If you can't read them, your VIN and SPID label are the fastest way to confirm.

Casting numbers

These casting numbers point to a GM 2.5L Ecotec, but a casting number alone can't tell the LCV apart from other 2.5L versions such as the LKW. Always confirm LCV with your VIN 8th digit (A) or the LCV code on your SPID label.

One long block for truck, car and SUV

The LCV long block internals are shared across the Colorado/Canyon trucks, the Malibu/Impala/ATS cars and the Acadia/Blazer/Envision SUVs. GM lists the same service parts for all of them, for example:

• Cylinder head assembly: GM service part number 12690422
• Crankshaft: GM service part number 12627163
• Piston: GM service part number 12652807

These are GM service (replacement) part numbers, not casting numbers. You won't find them cast into your engine. What differs between vehicles is the external hardware (oil pan module, front cover, valve cover, intake, accessories), which you transfer from your current engine.

Not covered

• VIN L, 2.5L LKW (2014-2015 Malibu and Impala). This is a different 2.5L with two-step variable valve lift.
• VIN T, 2.5L LKW (some 2017 GMC Acadia). Check your VIN: only VIN A Acadias are covered.
• Buick LaCrosse 2.5L eAssist (LHN).
• 2013 Malibu with secondary air injection (RPO NU6). Call us with your VIN.

What's included

This is a bare long block: block, crankshaft, rods, pistons, cylinder head, camshafts and valvetrain.

• Machined, milled and polished internals (crankshaft, block, cylinder bores)
• All new bearings and parts: main and rod bearings, pistons, piston rings, head gaskets, timing set and guides
• Cylinder heads fully machined: 3-angle performance valve job including seats, diamond mill finish, new valve seals

It ships WITHOUT the oil pan module (on the 2.5L the balance shafts and oil pump are built into the oil pan module), the front cover, the valve cover or the vacuum pump. Transfer these from your current engine.

Built in our full-service in-house machine shop. Reused and remachined: connecting rods, crankshaft and cylinder heads. New OEM or aftermarket parts: bearings, rings, pistons, lifters, valves, timing components, camshafts, rockers and more.

Break-in

The first 1,000 miles are the break-in period. Use conventional oil only, change the oil and filter at 500 miles, vary your RPM, and avoid towing, heavy loads and long idling. Check your oil level regularly, since some oil burn-off is normal until the rings seat. Following the break-in procedure is required to keep your warranty.

Warranty and core

Warranty: 1-year unlimited-mile warranty on the engine only; labor is not covered. Optional 3-year extended warranty available for $1,500 (includes labor coverage at $50/hr). See our Warranty & Refund Policy. Add the 3-year extended warranty to your order.
